I want a tirfor winch for self recovery of my Defender 110 and sankey trailer. Which model should I go for?

Do I need pulling power of 800 kg or 1600kg? and do i look at the TU 8/16 models or the T508/516 models - I can't figure out the pros and cons of the TU v T5 series!

Buy a Tirfor TU35! they come up from time to time on here and here.

These have a 5 ton pull and 3 ton lift ability.

Not to big, very powerful. I have used these all over the world recoverying vehicles bigger than wolfs. They allways perform. But you do need some strength to operate.

Spare ropes and handles are easy enough to get hold of, and they are pretty much bullit proof.

Go on you know you want to!:D

I have a TU35. heavy as fook but will pull an house down. The handle on mine is a 5ft length of 25mm rebar with a short piece of tubing welded on the bottom. all that extra leverage makes the job easier and always use a snatch block if you can. as it also halves the effort required.

simple machines but as yu say will pull a house down....an there no that heavy!:D

Only problem wea longer handles is they can shear at the bottom due to the levarge and crack yu on the head, watched ma mate do it in Iraq funny as fook!

snatch blocks, ropes, shackles , mechanical advantages .....like porn fur a big kid like me!

Being a short ass you only put half the effort in anyway.:D:D:D
