Hey guys,
Im looking for a new engine to make my landy a bit quicker.
Ive posted other threads about fitting new engines.

I just wonder if there is anything to do to my series 2a/3 2.25 diesel to make it a bit quicker?

I only want to be able to go up hills without hitting low box.

Ive heard that you can fit a straight through exhaust?

Fuel filter? (to stop all crap entering the carb)

Also, Air filters. Like K & N or other replacement aftermarket ones.

Pistons and/or rings?

I am struggling to find a decent engine transplant in my budget.

An overdrive would increase the range in gears but not the engine power.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx,
Carl.

not a lot you can do with the old diesels mate, you can,t even fuel up the pump like newer diesels. you can advance the pump slightly if you cut the mounting plate holes into slots. did this to a mates, got a bit more diesel knock and slightly more responsive, but still drove like you were towing a dead rhino!!!

transplant is the only way in afraid.
a v8 will make it go a fair bit quicker!

but a 200tdi will make it go and give you decent mpg.

Saw a lot of Diahatsu 2.5 and 2.8 diesels used in series and early defenders. Engines are bulletproof thus very cheap. Also easy to fuel. I have seen conversion plates for sale on 4x4 website quite recently.----BB
