Hi all,

For some reason my 2.5 n/a petrol 4c doesn't have any timing markers, can anyone provide a pic and show me what I'm missing/ what they should be on/what parts I need etc.

Many thanks! :)

usually have a pointer for marks on front pulley at 1 oclock ish you need to watch rockers or rotor arm to know when its tdc on compression on number1

Is this the pointer you were on about? I have had a look and can't see how it secures on, I will take a pic/find a pic of the pulleys and put it on here, thanks for the help :)

thats it supposed to be on your engine, two front cover bolts with spacer tubes approx 15mm -20mm its a good idea to mark the line on pulley edge with white paint or marker

Sorry this is a bad pic, but its the best I have to hand, I take it it fits around 1 oclock on the bottom pulley? I have found one of the spacers, just to find the other now.

Many thanks

Hi again all, I can't believe I am posting about this again, sorry all

I spoke to LR who stated I only needed the one spacer and that it connect to the side of the timing case. So I am looking for 1 bolt set back further than another still spaced in the same distance apart as the piece. I cannot find any? I have taken some pics can anyone help the mechanically hopeless me?

Many thanks

Did you mean out of the bolt in pic 1 or somewhere down by pic 2?

If you look at the left-hand picture of the three, there is a short strip attached by two screws. That is the rough position of the missing pointer.

On the crankshaft pulley, which is the lowest of them, you should find a shalloe 'V' shaped groove across the inner pulley rim. This can be difficult to see, so run your finger around until you find it. Then get a bit of Tippex or white paint to mark it.

Your pointer should also have a bit of paint on the end so that you can see both of them when your timing light flashes.

Hope this helps.
