Finally go teh freelander back form the garage, 3 salvaged hubs and 2 new abs snesnors and the three amigos and majority of clunck have gone :)

with the windows down I have now noticed a ticking noise though, not major (with windows up cant really hear it) but its constantly there when accelerating, dabbing the brakes does not seem to affect it, but slowing dwon in general makes it slower.

in addition when i turn / am not in a straight line it seems to disappear too

sounds like its coming from drivers side hub - but this has been replaced

any ideas ????
 
Its the movement in your rolex, when you turn its further away from your ears and you can't hear it.
 
its very odd, couldnt see anything in the tyre, but the noise has now gone from a clicking to more of a squeal (like a low brake indicator) but the pads are fine !
 
Mine is doing exactly the same. First thing I checked was if there was a stone or nail in the tyre. Someone at work suggested that the brake pads are loose??? However dabbing the brakes does not make the "ticking" go away. will try and investigate this weekend.
 
Jacked up the drivers front wheel and was able to spin the wheel to cause the ticking noise.
I've got a feeling its comming from the IRD and if so could be expensive.
I also tried starting the flander whilst the front was up. There was no movement of the wheel that was off the floor but I felt the car trying to move forward. I'd have thought that the wheel would start to rotate a bit before traction/viscous coupling came into play??? Will look into it more I think
