hello people, new to the td5,

now i was thinking this would be a blowing manifold or gasket but there all fine,

1999 disco, td5 auto 185k on the clock, does not over heat, use any water or oil, starts and stop fine, does not smoke, well only a little black puff when it first starts, egr valve has been blanked off!

the best i can describe the noise is, imagine a rivet from the clutch plate has come off, and its catching on the pressure plate this happens when under load around 1500-2500rpm, and more rpm or lower rpm the noise is not there!

its more of an air noise then a metal clack!

Does it sound like a bird whistling/ twittering if so probably a uj. I had that noise and took ages to track it down.

its defo a blowing noise, its a quick blow like a steam train, upto 2500rpm lol but i cant find anything wrong,

Have you checked the ujs?

if its a chuffing sound check the injector sealing washers

Check exhaust manifold to head seal they warp and can pull the studs out of the head
