plugs, points, fuel pump, hub seals, fan belts, and some coenflake boxes to make gaskets from

Is that 800 - 1000 quid for the Landy or for the parts? Seriously though you're planning on setting out across Europe in a bargain basement 25+ year old vehicle that you've just aquired? Good Luck.

fook sake! go fer it i went round oz in a 600au$ van i'd just bought. just make sure yer prepared fer stuff before hand. least yer can take a mobile phone with yer, i had to hire a flying doctors radio

Yeah, Its a fair task, but that why I'm doing the research first, dont blow the idea off just yet, stranger things have happened.

folking do it! yer only a phone call away from anything yer need that yer dint take with yer

I agree, I have owned pre 1980's cars my whole driving life (1974 Torana anyone?) I Kinda know what Im getting myself into, but still need the help as landys are not my forte :) looking through the forums Im not the only one with this Idea, so it cant be that steeper a plan.

Hey Guys,

I was wanting to know on these series of Landys when in the price range of £800-£1000

Check out some of the regional auctions, LRO magazine trader feature was reporting that a 1984 90 NA diesel was knocked out for just £300, so you would have cash left over to overhaul critical parts before heading off.

Find a half decent one , then go right thru it before you go then give it a couple of long runs to show up any probs . go petrol or n/a lwb .
You might have a prob with getting any b/down insurance due to age of vehicle. Give yourself plenty of time for the trip as you wont be getting anywhere very fast. When I did it you hardly ever saw a GB plate its a bit different now:cool:

Wish i could do it! sounds like fun! you'd be surprised where landrover parts can be delivered to, like its been said you can get parts sent so long as you've got a phone. A mates grandad did a trip in Africa and had parts sent to the local town in not much time at all! might be worth chatting to a few of the dealers over here to see if they are willing to ship to places you intend to travel through!
