Since I am a new owner and a recently lost my landy virginity to a 110, I thought it would be slightly amusing to post some thoughts I had during my first drive. Post yours too :)


  • F**k this is awesome!
  • Wtf does this do? (Most items in cockpit)
  • How does this second gear stick thing thing work then?
  • Where are my steering wheel buttons?
  • Where's the cruise control?
  • Why is everyone so small?
  • Why are people waiting for me at roundabouts?
  • Why does it sound like the apocolypse when I change gear?
  • I am so dead when the missus sees this...
  • There's probably enough room in here to live in! Wait a minute...(See previous)
and when I got back in my BMW...



  • (As I almost put my left foot through the floor) WHO BROKE MY CLUTCH? I HAVEN'T EVEN BEEN DRIVING IT???

thats as i remember it... must have been about 10 at the time.... 55 swb rag top... a year older than me
 
Is this clutch broke, I'm nearly standing on it. omigod, HOW TF do you keep this in a straight line? very quickly followed by,

Sheeeeeit .... Heheheheh ...

Hehahahahahaheheheheheh, woohoo ... Oh sheeit, how do you stop this????? HOW FAST, forty effin' 7 ... Jeez, oh jeez, felt like 93 ... omigod how do you turn this effin' thing, heheheheh, wheeeeee, there we go ... feck, feckity feck .. Damn I think my ears are bleedin' .. stop, s t o p, oh you utter b'stard SS TT OO PP !!!!!

Dammit, turtle heads touching cloth, bejeebus but I'll just have to do that again ... ;)
 
back when i was 17 with me first series 3 in the middle of january
**** its cold in hjere now which one works the heater fook me why is the windscreen 1" thick jesus its ice

wheres the effin ignition switch :doh: its on the other side now come on yer bitch start no not that start weheeeeyyyy

now lets go do the brakes work how fekkin heaqvy is that clutch why wont this fekkin door shut propperly

finally set off fook whats all this ssssshhhhhhiiiiiiiitttttttt freezing cold water landed on top of me

finally get moving and headed straight for the hills got used to it after 20 mins or so until foooookkkk wheres me fekkin brakes why is there nothing on the pedal bugger now handbrake ( bloody brake cylinder had burst on the front drivers side )

bloody dangerous death trap but strangely addictive and exiting
ill have to get used to this :D:D:D:D
 
Erm...how do I get in it?

Ouch *whilst holding a now scratched knee* corners on the doors are sharp aren't they!

I think its easier if I just lean out the window and wipe the windows than depend on those flimsy sticks.

The first morning it rained, it also rained in the car, I got in and got wet feet.

When my boyfriend reversed into an old Vauxhall at snail pace and wrote the little car off (we simply broke the indicator light!) He had the nerve to say 'for gods sake don't hit anyone. Still waiting for the next insurance quote to come through...

'YES I OWN THE ROAD' people move out of my way now!

Why has the clutch been attached to a weights machine ?

And why doesn't the turbo work... oh hang on.. it is working !
 
My best mate at school had a Ferguson TE20, this was the first 4 wheeled vehicle I drove.
"Go on Ian, giz a go.."etc etc.
Only to find out he had a series one in the garage waiting for his 17th birthday ( still a few years away ). A few trips out in that, driving experience very similar to the fergie, and I was hooked.
That was 20 odd years ago, Ian's still me best mate, he's been my Best-Man, and we're both still into Landies.

a bit similar for me, was driving tractors like ford super major and nuffield 10/60s around fields and yard so landy (series 2) seemed more refined ,a few years later when 17 and could drive on the road legally an old mk 1 escort didnt feel much better ,
 
My 1st was a v8 disco, 1st thoughts? 'this is a bargain and much better than i expected'
few weeks later it cost me a grand for a recon auto box but it was a pleasure to drive and i still regret seliing it.

That needs some attention. (attention still being given to the relentless new issues)

1st landy a series 3 about 20 odd years ago. Traded in a car and bought it without even driving it ..... Thoughts all the way home .... what have I done ... why did I buy this .. that fuel gauge goes down quick.
Probally over 30 landies later I still have a V8 Disco and a 300tdi Defender 90 : )
 
Mine was around 9 mnths ago when i got my first disco, the first thought was why is the gear stick on the passenger side!!?? it feels like ist where the pasenger seat would normaly be! haha the next 1 was as i was goin down the m62 was how the efff do you keep it going in a stright line and why am i shouting to myself?? the next thought was the missus is gonna kill me!!! hahaha oh well its me that drives it! then as i pulled up at our house and put on the handbrake i thought why does it roll forward?? then after around 2 mnths of owning it it tried to kill its self by setting itself on fire!!
after all this i love it to bits and wouldnt change it for anything!!
