im wondering if anyone out there is missing a galv chassis deffender or a series id as it looks like a pile of dicky ill gotten gains to me

if it were honestly bought parts i think id start the bidding at the upper end of a grand if just for the chassis alone :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Hi James its a proper series 3 chassis with coil springs supplied by desina chassis as for front end you can always move the grille further back and put the shorter bonnet on ( series 3 ) as it sill has the original bulk head but powder coated , this would be easy to do as it is on a viscose fan doors are series 3 with slide tops and it has defender screen and roof fuel filler cap is at the back of the drivers door leading to tank under seat as it should have for series 3 , it has also got chassis facilities under the passenger seat for a fuel tank , a pto drive shaft hole is also in the rear cross member . his must certify a series 3 .

Option to fit coils to a series. It may well retain its status as chassis and axles may not
Add up to the points system and even if it did not add up it may well have been done before they put these extra restrictions.

When you say legit what do you mean?

Parts are probably not stolen nobody will pay much for a set of old spunky axles to
Fit a chassis they had specially made

The fact that it's a designer chassis Means someone at some point has spent a few quid why save a couple of hundred for axles screen ect.

I know lots of landy go missing but this is hilarious the ammount of bashing some not so std vehicles get because people do not know how it could be coils on a series

I know plenty of hybrids trialer raced and abused weekly built from other vehicles both of which were owned by the same Person no dodgy dealings At all! Some may be cheeky and try tax ex route that's down to them!

Remember you can get tax exempt coil sprung parts early rrc so it's not entirely dodgy of the rrc was also tax exempt and registered as a rrc.

Wasn't there a cutoff date after which the points system came in in which if too much of the orginal vechicle had been changed it lost it's original reg, was reregistered on a Q plate and in the case of pre 72 vechicles, lost the tax exemption. As this is advertised as an unfinnished project therefore once finished would not be tax exempt.

It is very simple. Unless the chassis is original and un modified, or a new chassis built to original specification. the vehicle cannot retain it's original ID and must be submitted for an SVA and registered on a Q plate. No series vehicles were originally built on coil sprung chassis, and you cannot fit Defender body work onto a RRC chassis without modifying the chassis in some way. Whilst I am willing to admit that the parts are probably not stolen, there is no way that vehicle can be registered as tax exempt.
