That nasty little BMW engine is even worse when put against a manual box,too easy to stall and generally hard work,esp if you want to tow with it.

Maybe in a saloon car with very good soundproofing - you cant really say its at home in a Range Rover.tis a fine engine 8in v.

I wouldn't say nasty
mine is fine i tow my jet ski every weekend and drop it in and out of the lake no struggle at all, also take it down the beach at Brid sometimes. Might have stalled it a few times when i first did it but now im used to it its fine also the ecu re-map has improved it a lot.cheers

I must be wrong then ! There are 2 satisfied owners,odd both of them have seen fit to have performance upgrades.
Lets face it out of the box the engine is just not up to the job of powering a heavy 4wd which is expected to tow heavy loads aswell.Cracked heads or rods out of the side seem common for them if worked hard.Thats if the head gasket stays put or the water pump does not fall apart first.
Shame BMW got involved with LR,if it had been Honda or Toyota I suspect it may have been a different picture now.
