Hello, I own a Range Rover Vogue 1994, due to it being off the road and unused for a long period of time the battery has died and now when running it from another car I get 'engine lockout' being displayed on the dash and am unable to start the vehicle. I have the 4 digit code but I can't figure out how to enter it correctly. I know it's got to do with a series of counter/clockwise turns of the key in the drivers side door but that's about it and I hear you have to wait half an hour in between unsuccessful attempts which isn't helping. Also I'm having to use jump leads and a donor vehicle to get life into the old girl. If anyone can give me some details on what to do then I would be most grateful!
Thanks in advance!

EKA procedure as attached image...

Also open and close the door after each attempt and this cancels out the 30 minute wait time!

Get the battery on charge overnight, diagnosing a Range Rover will a known duff battery is like trying to herd cats!

If you're using jumpers to start, you will have to run them from the battery and down through the engine bay and out underneath the front bumper. The reason being that the bonnet needs to be properly closed before you can enter the EKA. It took me half a day to figure that out when this happened to me. Hook up jumpers, close bonnet and all doors and lock them. Wait for 30 minutes (until there is no message in the display), and then follow the EKA procedure.

Good luck!

That's a tip worth remembering!
