Hi there, bit of a weird one.

My mum passed away a few weeks back after a long struggle with MS. She was a no-nonsense farming gal from Bromyard and wanted her ashes scattering on top of the Malvern hills (where she was born). We'll be scattering the ashes of her much beloved border collie Sid too. We want to make their last journey in style, in a Land Rover. She loved them. She even rebuilt the engine on our County 110 V8. Started first time. That's just how she rolled.

I've tried to hire a Land Rover for next weekend (3rd-5th June), but all I can find is a utility / panel back 110. It's not really befitting. Here's where I'm looking for some help.

Does anyone know where I can hire a relatively smart (not necessarily new) Land Rover? Or does anyone have one they are happy to 'donate' for a good cause. I'm happy to pay btw - not looking for charity. We need to go from Hinckley in Leicestershire to the Malvern Hills (but not necessarily back) on Saturday 4th. Don't mind picking it up / arranging something weird if needed. Ideally want it so my step dad can drive it, just him and my mum, one last time.

I live in North London if that triggers any thoughts btw. Planning to head up on the Saturday with my family, and then go in convoy on Saturday. Could potentially take something up the from London area?

We already want to make the Saturday a day of humble, no-nonsense celebration but if anyone can help out, you'd make it just that bit more special.

Kind regards

Dino

Very sorry to hear of your loss! :( Your Mum sounds like my kind of girl! :)

If you were nearer, you would be welcome to borrow any of my vehicles, although I wouldnt describe them as smart. :D

Hope someone more local to you will step up to the plate on this one.

And welcome to lz! :)

Have you tried SHB - they hire 4x4, and their website says they do 110 station wagons - 01794 511 458 or just google SHB vehicle hire. I am not sure what their minimum hire period might be though. Condolences on your loss.

Thanks guys. Appreciate our thoughts. I did look at SHB, but they're a bit 'contractor' looking. I'm sure my mum wouldn't have minded but ideally we don't want to look like the gas board have shown up :)

Good shout though!
