I sit here now, once again enjoying life in it's various forms even if I have lost an eye, reached a decent pre-retirement age and become redundant for the first time ever, but am I dismayed, not at all, it just means I can indulge in a new way of life.......

This is the second, nay third Landrover I have owned over the years, the first, a Series 1 that went so well without any problem except a snapped off gearstick in the middle of a major 'A' road junction, this was way back in the early 70's, The ex-wife got that one though. A lull in fortunes over a few years eventually saw the second Landrover, a Series 2a of a year long forgotten now. I had continuous pains with the swivel joints wearing out for some reason ????? I sold that when a decent offer came along at an expedient moment.... Then a few years back I began a rebuild of another Series 2a, this time a 24v FFR SWB ex-military jobbie. It looks in it's original aged condition, or as I say, full of patina galore..... I converted the thing to 12v, plus installed an alternator and altered all the pulley system, rewire and a new crossmember at the back etc etc... then I went blind in my left eye. Now, three years later I am striving to get her going again, cannot be much wrong with it apart from a suspected Solenoid stuck and one of the fuel tanks leaky..... Not a great deal of funds now but, a bit of petrol and very limited mileage over the fields and woods around here doing a bit of logging etc and taking the dog with me is my idea of fun.
Yes I joined here for information, parts sources, fault finding and curing but have spent a long time catching up with a lot of posts and look forward to getting involved a bit now....
