Here's Buddy
A '76 109 with a Defender 2.5NA.
A blind EBay purchase that just needs a few bits sorting out, so I thought I'd keep a thread of the progress.
I thought I had sorted the initial problem of the engine revs running away when I found a blocked banjo bolt. It ran great for a while until I realised the clutch was slipping on a test drive.
Changed that and had difficulty changing gears only to realise ( after help on here ) that I'd put the new slave cylinder on upside down and probably had air trapped in the system.
Another test drive and the revs became erratic again and the engine died and wouldn't restart. Mr AA towed me the full 2 miles home [emoji15].
Thanks to Turbomans advice, I stripped the head and found the engine was running on its own oil thanks to a blown gasket
Ordered a full gasket set, just need to find out where all the washers go. [emoji33][emoji15]
Further cleaning has found combustion chambers need replacing
Popped them out, and now just waiting for the new ones to arrive.
