A mate of mine had one in a old Dragster/rail called Drago 'n' fly ...car started off running a 1275 a series and ended up with a 2.5 blown Daimler hemi running on methanol.

IIRC the blower scoop and methanol pills are still kicking around his garage

Trouble with the hemis is that bits are made out of unobtanium and sidding expensive too .

Big blocks are the future

thats cool mate, send me the blower hood, it will go a treat on my new mancave wall :D

most people know about the 2.5 hemi but not many know about the 4.5 I bet it goes even better with nearly double the capacity :D

Quite some engine, even in the original car. Back in the 'sixties a friend of mine drove the (wealthy) family he worked for to Paddington station to catch the night express to Scotland & having dropped them off proceeded to drive the Daimler up the A1, with all the luggage, heading for the country retreat where the family would be staying. Realising he'd made good time he diverted to the station in time to meet the train!

unobtanium!

pmsl

:D

bit slow on the uptake there noisy, it was for you :p

Thanks mate, sorry, have been busy :p

Yeah that Daimler looks LOVELY, right up my street.

Looks much more tuned/tuneable than the rover, generally better engineering!

What's that valve train all about then?

Single cam with split rocker shafts hmmm :)

Is there a benefit to having the spark plug in the top of the head, or is this split rocker thing the nature of a hemispherical headed engine?

In fact is the angle of the valves the whole point with hemi heads?

Much better gas flow?

Love that inlet manifold :)

Theres an intercepter rotting away around the corner from my house with a 440 hemi in it, i been trying for years to talk the bloke out of it but no joy:( theres nowt like the pop of a hemi lump:)

sure and the plug in the middle so the explosion is the same all round.

Yeah that 4.5 is proper engineering, so much space on those rocker covers too. bloody lovely. I didnt realise quite how rare the 4.5 is untill I posted on here a long time back and even our geeks had only heard of the 2.5 , I thought I had better prove I was not making it up! not cheap though lol

Hi si, yeah it wont be a 440 hemi, its a chrysler 440 ci.

its the next motor down from the hemi in the 70's mopar world

Good engine, rated at 390 bhp+ depending on trim and CR back int he day

Not a Hemi BUT ...10.5 litres 1500 BHP and 1400 foot pounds of torque
