I just thought I would write a quick thank you to all the people on here, not just the guys with the answers but also the ones with the problems, i dont mean har har yours broke, mine works, but I bought my landie three weeks ago,so far i only drove it home after buying it,the rest of the time its in bits, repaired all the rust i could find, started trying to get all the electrics to work ,repair the front bumper, I have never owned or even worked on a disco before so i am still finding my way around, its not my main car,i also own a scooby i have spent nine years modifing, nearly finished, the parts on landies so far are dirt cheap compared to the scooby, but build quality is sadly lacking, the electrics seem overly complicated for no good reason, the way the body is put together is a joke, I thought it would be like the old landies, built like a tank, about as technical as mud,but reliable, the alternator is nearly under the engine along with the standard air intake, both these things dont like water,so mods are on the cards,so you are thinking " why the hell did he buy this thing" simple DOG TRANSPORT,it was cheaper to buy and run this than to have the scoobys rear seat repaired, plus i hoped it would have some of the charm of my father in laws landie, you know , slow, noisey, uncomfortable, but for some reason put a smile on my face every time, mine managed to do 70mph no prob at 2300 rpm, thats all it had to do,it did seem to take along time to get there,so started doing a few mods,de-cat,lost the center box,egr delete, k and n panel filter,as i said I dont want a race car,got that just get me to 70mph quicker,be reliable and put a smile on my face, although i have been watching landies playing in the mud on youtube so who knows,by the way is wearing a hat and beard compulsary if you own a landie? So thanks again, keep it up,Pete
