fully synthetic appears to be the right way to go but having ordered same i received mineral (at this point i won't name supplier) so if i may i will ask advice from those that will know .
where can i get or at least a quality alternative to ;
for ird. Texaco S5 75w90 api gl5
'' diff. Texaco 80/90 etl 7441
'' Gbox Texaco mtf94
are they or are they not synthetic ? should i be using same ,and if not texaco which i have to admit is proving imposable to find what other companies can supply the required replacement
I would like fully synthetic
thanks you in anticipation littledog

MTF94 was specifically developed for the Rover PG1 gearbox. It's low viscosity mineral oil.
The others listed are general purpose mineral gear oils. They would likely have been the factory production line oils.

I was in the same situation as you. Ended up in halfords

Halfords diff oil ep 80/90 gl-5
Gearbox castrol syntrans 75w-90 gl-4
Ird Comma gear oil sx75w-90 gl-5

I'm now at 6k more and its a lot quieter than before. Best of all I got them all from the same place. Easy

You can get mtf 94 from GSF or eBay. I have used other oils but always found that the box felt better with mtf94.

Ird and diff wise any meeting the spec should be fine mineral or synth. I normally go for a semi ;)
