Hi all, I would be grateful for any advice.
The temperature gauge in my X plate 1.8xei Freelander was fluctuating between normal running (approx half scale) and bottom scale for a couple of weeks. It has now given up the ghost and does not move.
I have had the car since it was 6 months old, during which time the HG has blown twice. The first time after 3000 miles, which also required a new engine. The second time last year with about 45,000 miles but thankfully no engine damage.
With the cars history in mind I'm obviously worried about not having any temperature indication.

My queries are;
  1. Is the sensor situated on the near-side of the engine block just above the thermostat housing?
  2. What resitance should the sensor read on a multimeter when cold?

Can help with pic of location. Sensor resistance is usually higher when engine coolant is cold - can't help further though. Relatively cheap to replace especially after the trouble you've had. Good luck.
