The temp meter is the dash stopt working! Was working fine yesterday
Are there any usual suspect ?
Does it effect the cooling system at all? aka Can I drive ?

Safe to drive, the engine temperature sensor for the ECU is separate.
Check the carpet in the drivers foot well for damp, the gauge is operated by the BECM using a separate sensor.

Hi datatek
I drive a LHD ( so look at the passenger site?) I so some water coming down there yesterday
but check all the cables on the passengers site they seemed oke ?

wire on the sender looks a bit wobly ( moved to many times) buts is to smal to shorten

Any wet on the floor on the right hand side of the car can cause condensation in the BECM and corrosion in the connectors. Fix the wet before you end up in serious trouble, run the aircon to aid drying.

thanks date
any solutions for the temp gauge ?
Diagnostics is the best way, you can check the input to the BECM from the sensor, and you can drive the gauge from the diagnostics.
Failing that, check the sensor and the connector, check the connectors for corrosion at the BECM using RAVE to id the connectors and see what you have. A new sensor is not expensive.

As Keith says get it sorted. If not use the cloud of steam as an overheat indicator. :D:D

sorted
fiddling around with the cable of the sensor did the trick
range rover technology shall we say !
thanks everybody
