Idler wheels and tensioner.

Its not got better or worse in the miles iv done.

So looks like it may be my turbo.
Grinding spinning noise on shutdown will video it when i get home.

To check that, get a long screwdriver or something similar and have to your ear and touch the body of the turbo. Then get someone to turn the engine off as you did in the video. If it's that loud you'll hear it through the casing on the turbo. ;)

Does the l233 have a viscous fan ,,or a crank damper ,the noise might not be one thing ,ticking could be a flexi plate if uv got one. whirring might be an electric motor shutting down...;)

Turbos absolutely had it. About 4 mm of play in and out and its rubbed the polish off the casing.

So turbo off. Had one off an x5 3.0. Actuator mounts slightly differently but it bolts and fires on.
Both torque and bhp curves are the same curve but the x5 has 10bhp more and 20nm more torque.
Took for a test drive feels absolutely brilliant now.
Just awaiting till monday for boy to make a map to suit it.

I toom viscous off no change. Totally new noise.
Noise was definitely through the exhaust.

It had a gearbox and flex plate 17k mile ago in December. And just last week had all the crank damper ect off a car i broke up that run absolutely silent. I was in the mind set of just throwing the whole engine in
