Hi Everyone. TD5 90 '52 plate.
I gave It a quick wash today and was maybe a bit cavalier with the jet wash around the fuel cap recess. When I moved it back to it's position In the drive from the back, the 'water in the fuel tank' warning light came on. However as I drove it about 100 yards, the warning light got dimmer and dimmer until it was almost gone by the time i had parked up.
Question is, should I do something about it? Drain the tank?
Thanks

Take a look at the fuel filter at the bottom will be the water sensor.
Unplug the sensor wiring it is only a short way up the filter held with a clip. Then using a suitable catch container like an old washing up bowl unscrew the sensor from the filter and allow the water to drain until only diesel flows out, replace sensor and reconnect job done.

Thanks Tim. On starting the car this morning the warning light was gone so must have been very negligible amounts. Will bear your suggestion in mind though.
