they improve the response by holding the wastegate shut longer when required. There’s a noticeable difference. Wondered if anyone had retrofitted it on a defender. Looks like I’ll have to just try it! It’s only a couple of wires and some reprogramming

The Defender fuel map doesnt have wastegate modulator "section" in it. I doubt that you can addapt a defender fuel map for that and the D2 fuel map is a bit different

nothing some software modifications can’t sort out then. I’ll report back when it’s done!

I'm watching this with interest

well it’s in and working. I extended and re-purposed the redundant EGR modulator wiring. Got some testing to do but seems to work well!

How does that improve the performance, is the turbo quicker to respond?
I'll explain as short and as clear as i can: The ECU is managing the modulator to keep the wastegate closed untill the boost rises then opens gradually as to keep the boost as high as possible below the overboost limit which is effective especially on acceleration from low speed cos then all the boost goes to the inlet nothing is wasted while on the defender without moulator the wastegate opens on the turbo pressure from the beginning without any controll(unless the wastegate is tightened) so the full power will be reached only under heavy load

Exactly what I was going to say.

Sounds like a modification worth doing then.

I think it is.
