Hi,

The throttle pedal on my td5 90 seems to have alot of travel in high range before anythink happens but when i put it in low range you only have to move it a tiny bit and it revs up, now i think that it should be the other way round does that sound right?

Does any one know how to fix this?

Cheers

Mine's the other way round, as you say.

In high range you only have to press it a little for the turbo to kick in. But if you floor it, the pedal goes into "low range" mode until you stop the engine and restart it.

This has been the same on all three TD5's l have owned....including a 2006 bought new.

It will be a bit different as the ECU senses when it's in high and low range and adjusts the throttle response accordingly. I tend to find I have to push the accelerator right down to the bulkhead to make any progress. I push it harder and harder even though I know it won't make any difference, as the Nissan Micras and Ford Kas effortlessly leave me behind.

The standard mapping means you only need about a third of the throttle travel from idle to full when in high range to make it more comfortable over long distances and when in low range the throttle pedal needs full travel from idle to max so it is less sensitive when you are bumping over rough ground. You can also wedge your knee against the door which helps off road. Yours seems to be the wrong way round.

When Gary at Alive tuning did my map he set the throttle pedal response to use full travel in high or low range which I requested.

Mine does the third of travel thing unless you floor it by mistake, or when overtaking, then it reverts to full travel.
Stopping and restarting the engine resets it.

I tried to get it fixed on our new one, but never did. I've learnt to drive around it i.e don't floor the throttle on the motorway, it won't go any faster and will then need keeping fully down to stay at motorway speeds.
