Please help, my Disco 2003 has been back to the garage 4 times, after the injector harness was changed, it is running intermittantly rough at low revs, usually below 2000rpm. and feels underpowered and noisy compared to one the same age. Air mass sensor and injector harness have been checked and the oil contamination never reached the ecu, have also checked the fuel regulator and changed all filters.
Please can anyone help

My td5 03 auto has had lots of probs, lots of fuel related problems.

Leaks from FPR - one actually exploded and flooded the road with diesel!
Big stutter on full power - apparently overboosting
Drinks juice like a pig
Apparently had two iffy injectors returning pressure down fuel pipes but never proved.
Also 3, yes three in tank pumps fail within 1 month!

Land rover added a new map and since then it has improved considerably and not gone wrong. Its going to take a long time to trust it but I am confident its better than before.

Hunters of Bristol did the ecu map update.

I have de catted and de egr'd it since a got more oomph as well.

Another common issue is the MAP sensor on the inlet manifiold. It can get gunged up with oil. It takes 15 mins or so to clean it. A spray of contact cleaner and a wipe is all it takes. I did mine and it transformed the car.

I also took off the arm for the wastegate and sprayed some penetrating oil on the wastegate lever. Mine was a bit stiff. The car is going even better now.

Cheers

Andy

All I did for my 03 was:

EGR plate from p senior on ebay £6.99
2001 td5 disco downpipe (no cat) from a breakers £60.00
Tin of wynns penertrating oil

1. Soak nuts on everything you need to undo over 48 hrs (you can still drive it).
2. Do EGR plate following simple instructions supplied. Its only two little bolts and you are done.
3. Remove crossmember underneath chassis by front pipe (use long bar to undo these nuts as its easy to round them off.
4. ndo exhuast nuts.
5. Swap pipes and refit new one with a new manifold gasket from LR.
put everything back in place - crossmembers and overs on engine etc.
6. Road test and enjoy
7. Check for any leaks etc from exhaust joints and revel in the response and greater fuel economy.

All for less than £100.00 which will pay for itsefl in two tanks of juice! and can be done at home or in a garage for 1hr 30 mins of labour.
