hi
ive got a 2001 td5 manual and after a long run such as on a motorway the gearchange becomes quite tight and the stick doesn't want to return to the centre position. but after a few miles on an ordinary road with a few gearchanges everything returns to normal i.e. gearchange nice and easy and stick centralises ok.

going to change the oil in gearbox but before i do wanted to know has anyone else had this problem.

in a previous thread someone mentioned this was a known problem and the cure maybe a nylon bush/ball in the selector mechanism. does anyone know of this fix or anything about it or can anyone offer any other advice.

cheers.

Not a clue, only boxes I played with is lt77 bias plate, think it would be a minor job for diy mechanic. the disco's I have done removed centre console round hand brake and had to drill out rivets holding rubber cover over gear leavers

sorry I can't be more help, I play with older land rovers, ashcrofts can be a bit pushy, but helpful
