There’s a rather frustrating issue with an electrical connection on the starter motor on my Td5:
Most of the time all is fine and it starts like a dream. Once in a while ( very rarely at the moment luckily) I turn the key an .....nothing. A while ago I found the issue. There is a very thin black wire connected to the starter motor via a spade type connector. ( I assume some kind of switch feed!? ) it was coated in oily, muddy grime and was a little loose. Gave it a wiggle and all was fine; it started with no issue. Strangely enough I have another Td5 and it’s done exactly the same thing, fixed in exactly the same way. Does anyone else have the same problem? I’ve given the connection a damn good clean but it doesn’t want to pull off as I expected a spade connector to, despite being loose. Don’t want to pull too hard invade it doesn’t go back on! Any suggestions?

This is the "start" position feed which basically triggers the solenoid and gets the starter engaged and spinning. I've had this on a Disco and a Defender.

The Disco I just used pliers to pull the connection off, cleaned the terminal on the starter and cleaned the connector up too, crimped the rolled over section a little for a good tight grip, refit it and smothered it in Vaseline. On the Defender I cut it off, fitted a new one, crimped it, quick flash of solder into the new joint and cleaned the starter terminal.

It all depends.
