Hi. I recently bought a TD5 with approx 76,000 miles on the clock. The book (supported by invoices) states the last service was at 74,000, but this was nearly 2 years ago.

I appreciate the suggested intervals are mileage or time (12 months), but is it really necessary to go through a full service now, or can I bide a few months by doing oil and filter change?

remove level bungs on axles and transmission and check condition of oil ie clean or dirty and at least not too little

Personally I would change all the oils, engine, gearbox, front and rear diff, then you won't have any worry of the condition of the oils! imho

+1 include all filters with that list, and the fuel filter, thermostat, and check coolant for -30f

for £75 if you can do it yer sel is a cheap precaution! and you know the answer then! the cost to put right if sommat goes wrong/ not right ££££££
