I noticed my rear offside stop lamp was out so set about changing the bulb when I found a lot of water inside the lamp which had corroded the bulb holder. I got a new bulb holder and bulb form my local LR Dealer, only to find it still didnt work when fitted:mad: A mate tested the wiring harness extension with a volt meter and assured me it was ok (Im not so sure!)
All the other rear lights are fine so I dont think its a fuse.......any other ideas...could it be the connector on the wiring harness????

How far back did you peel back the insulation to fix new holder? Corrosion would have spread a few mm's down the cable.

I didnt, it plugs directly into a socket on the wiring...Im thinking that this socket may be the problem with corrosion inside it on the plugs and that I will have to replace the wiring harness.
Ive not checked the fuse as the other rear stop lights are working.....Im assuming they are all on the same fuse.

Just been out again lookin at it. managed to get the light to work but it makes the high level brake light come on!!! Coul this be corrosion in the plug on the wiring harness that causes this?

Sorted.......the to connectors within the bulb holder were touching..........cleaned the corrosion out of the plug on the wiring harness with a safety pin...now working fine.
