Afternoon all!
This is a bit different..
Got a 110TD5 that up to now has been faultless. Usual regular servicing stuff & thats it.
Anyway, Reversing in the drive yesterday & stalled it.. DAMN!! no worries, turn the key & it turns over & over & over but not starting. Odd... Locked the door, set the alarm, killed the alarm & unlocked the door. Key in, try a start... nope...just spins.
Thinking maybe ECU fuse?
Any ideas would be most welcome.

Did you check the fuel cut off ?

Its usually a fuel problem if its turning over and not starting.

Guessed a fuel problem, wondered if a fuse had popped & stopped the electrical side of the injectors.

Ideal!
Can hear the fuel pump running but will give it a good firm press in the mornin & see what gives.

Alrightee!
Did the crash button, no change. Put the scanner on & got this.
Any ideas?

So, did a fuel purge, looked all over & no leaks. Really got me scratching my head now!
Is it possible for the Cam Chain to jump a link & throw the timing out? If that were the case would`nt it show up on the scanner?....

Latest news...checked cam timing & all good. Checked engine fuses, passenger compartment & under seat, all good.
Running out of ideas now..Who would thing stalling a motor would cause so many issues!

When you did the fuel purge did you hear the pump running?

Have you checked fuel flow at the FPR?

Is the battery in good condition, iirc the Td5 needs at least 10.5Vwhen cranking.

Pump runs a treat Neilly, Battery is fine, fuel at FPR is next stop..

OK.... Loads of fuel, plenty of pressure & a funny smell so more head scratching.... Lent it to a chap the other day, he filled it up when he brought it back. He drives a Fiesta... Looks like he filled it with Petrol not Diesel.. Drained it all out, chucked some Diesel at it &....sweet as a nut..
PHEW!!!

Funny how you began by thinking it could be the ECU fuse, only to discover it was the fuel itself

Lesson learnt eh, don't overthink a problem

You were lucky it did not wreck the engine. I knew someone who put petrol in his van (his mate filled it up) just after having a new engine fitted. Had to get another engine fitted

Glad you got it sorted, now what to do with the waste fuel, mmm. There must be a use for it, cleaning bath fluid maybe, any other suggestions ?.
