My disco has just been in for a head gasket at a lr specialist. been skimmed and crack tested all fine and back together. they took it for a road test though and it just died. turns out the fuel pump was knackered, crud in the mesh and it burnt itself out. they put a new one in and i got it back yesterday.
HOWEVER... now the fuel pump is bloody noisy when i turn the ignition, on multiple pitches not just a constant whine noise. and when i try to start it it just turns over but doesnt fire. after 4/5 attempts it'll start but it doesnt much like it. the fuel pump also doesnt stop unless i turn the engine off. i can hear it as i drive. sounds like its under loads of strain.
So any ideas? i thought maybe injector seals when they refitted the head its not been put together quite right and letting air in/fuel out? I can't see any other fuel leaks around although it is a bit damp-but not wet- around the fuel pressure regulator
any help would be great.
