Does anyone know if you can buy a cheaper slide hammer set to remove the injectors on td5's? i know this can be done with a crows foot bar apparently but i wanted to do it the correct way! is there a set you can buy? because there are a few sets on ebay for diesel injector remover kits but just wondered if anyone had bought one or used a cheaper set as i know the proper landrover one is silly money?

Even cheaper yet, shallow chamfer the inner short edge of an allan key (think I use a long 6mm key) , insert under bridge of injector, gently rock to pop the injector out of its seat - non violent and pretty safe.

if you want to do it the correct way ask landrover is there any special tool fitting the injectors they might respond yes bring it to us LOL
my local landrover shop told me I wont get the injectors out without the puller nor would they loan the puller with the same amount of deposit placed of the price of the tool (at this point I started to play dumb) ...reason being they wanted the work ...and at the same time I was purchasing my combustion washer seal kit they asked why ...I told them why ...apparently the combustion washers has nothing to do with my fuel pump whine ....but we can sell you a new fuel pump

last time I did mine a clawfoot worked perfectly if you are unsure or come across a stubbing one use 2 clawfoots opposite once the injector breaks its seal they actually lift out by hand
the only special tool I used was compressed air to blow out the diesel in the pots

Have a read of this the allen key is shown right at the end.

Cheers
it mentions tools needed ...there is no timing involved when doing the injectors seals only ...so I wonder why there is a timing pin needed as only the rocker assembly is removed not the cam shaft

not to sure how good the timing tool will be as the engine has to be turned to access some of the injector cleats

INJECTOR REMOVAL TOOL: You can make an injector removal tool using a large allen key, as used by the technicians at Gaydon. File the short end to a tapered 6mm point.

I used a ground down 6mm allen key.

Did the job very nicely........ slid out much easier than expected.

Cheers
