Having now read up on this I realise I cant adjust play in front wheel bearings like the old tdi defender as there is no adjusting nut and there is instead a spacer! I have read elsewhere that you can get rid of the spacer in between the bearings and go back to an adjusting nut/locking tab/locknut arrangement as on earlier models. Is that correct? If so, are the adjusting nuts and lock nuts the same?

I changed my td5 recently to the old type and just pinched two of the big nuts off an old 300tdi axle. Just got new lock tabs for them

You could use the old style nuts.....but why?

Landrover made the wheel bearings idiot proof but you want to go back.........
