Hi all just bought 51 plate td5 es .with 138k on it .
First thing central lockibgs gone iffy all doors will lock but only drivers door will unlock correctly .very odd as these worked fine the night before .any common fix for this befor i buy all new door units ?
Seconaly oil light came on and engine locked up ( was on the motorway .)
Im ok with machics.im assuming oil pump bolt came lose ( something i read on here)
Im i better buying another engine or buy another cranks mains big ends etc to repair this oringal engine ..anything else worth replaceing while engines out ..
 
If the oil pump sprocket came loose then chances are your engine is scrap. You could rebuild but its cheaper and easier to source a replacement. When I took my old engine apart after the same thing happened at 60mph it was fragged.
 
Ripped it out this morning found turbos buggared as well as crank and oil pump .but not damaged any conrods so bought another crank 80.00 mains big ends and new bolts.ill sort oil pump and thread lock it. All easy sorted there .

But ive a turbo question .ive noticed some fit vnt for better turbo responce .but do these interchange and run ok .or do they have to have software changed to suit the vnt turbocharger
