Hi I am just finishing a engine change I have fitted a second hand engine and it came with a ecu that has had a 5 alive chip fitted I have 3 questions 1. If i try to start the engine with the old ecu without changing injector codes will it go? I would like to try this before changing ecu so if it does not start I know it is a problem with the engine installation and when I get it going I can then change ecu and see if that works 2. If I turn the engine over to pump oil around without the injectors connected (to stop it starting) will this cause any problems? I have a Nanocom to help me get the new ecu to work I think I just need to get the car to talk to the new ecu as all the other information should already be in there as it is the ecu from the same car any help would be great many thanks

many thanks for information, I just want to make sure motor runs before changing ecu because I did not see the engine run before I got it and although I hope and was told the ecu and engine are good I do not know for sure, if I start with old ecu that I know is good and all is okay I can then fit new one and if there are any problems I know it is a fault with that ecu. I might also reprogram old ecu for new engine injectors so if i ever need to use it it is ready to go
