My td5 is Remapped by previous owner. I noticed the vac pipes for egr are simply disconnected from egr I.e plunger never opens. One vac pipe goes to butterfly in intake, other to egr valve. Both cable ties out the way. I will order a propper blanking kit payday but I’m sure this is another bodge. I’ve just removed egr and cleaned up. Valve is operating by finger so not seized. Should I reconnect the vac hoses?!

The vacuum to operate the valves is generated by the pump on the alternator, which also operates the brake servo, if the pipes are not blocked in some way then the braking should be affected, I left the pipes connected and put a small blinking plate in the flange of the flexible pipe coming from the manifold, to stop any gasses being fed into the intake manifold.

Thanks. Unsure wether to blank the egr one and leave throttle one connected?

I left both of mine connected, I know the MOT people dont remove any covers to check but it may change, the little blank plate is pretty hard to spot, but taking the valve out or disconnecting the pipes or control solenoid is a bit of a giveaway.

It’s actually got to two solenoids and the one off the break t connects to the solenoid then the ones off the valves go to the solenoid. I thought I’d cured my issue but still getting intermittent power loss. I’m going to have to pull some money and order nanocom because it runs fine and them bang it’s power is halved!
