hi

I deleted my EGR yesterday in preparation for a remap. It's an EU3 engine.

Was pretty simple and I think it has made my engine pull slightly better from low down. Manifold and EGR valve itself were wet inside with oil sludge so will hopefully stop that gunk going in the engine.

I have noticed however that the solenoid where the pipes running to the valve were connected is making a noise as if it is running all the time. You can hear it from the drivers seat. Is this normal?

Ps. I posted this elsewhere in the wrong section by mistake

Disconnected the electrical connectors on the modulators as suggested on alive website.

Started engine and left is sitting. In a couple of minutes the buzzing started again. Not sure how this can happen when the power is disconnected !

remove the solenoids from the
and plug up the vacuum T piece feeding the solenoids

you can leave the solenoids in place .... just plug up the Tpeice ( stop vacuum to the solenoids)

the T piece is located on the hose between vac pump and brake booster (vacuum chamber )
if you do decide to remove both actuators from the vehicle
also remember to plug up the nipple on the air filter box located just above the Ambient sensor ... this is just an exhaust /vent outlet when the actuators return home

maybe one of the actuators has failed or sticking the frequency of the vacuum being pulled through make a humming noise

..I would also suggest removing the air intake manifold do a full clean as some times the inlet ports close up with build up ( I burnt mine out with a blow torch )

add in a cheap catch can to oil breathing system this limits to some degree vapour oil entering your air intake

ps plugging up these vac leaks you may feel better response on the brakes

Thanks. will block off the t piece, might even change the pipe for a solid one. Will leave the actuators in place in case mot rules change.

Is getting remapped tomorrow. Will clean the inlet manifold out when I get time. Catch can seems a good idea. Decatted it today seems to rev a bit better and doesn't sound so strangled.
