Hello Gentlemenladies,
I am a longstanding Disco G4 TD5 owner, and still solvent.
Whilst cruising along French motorway a few days ago I experienced a sudden and complete loss of power and loads of smoke out of exhaust, and I mean loads. Quick look over the car, water level good, but oil level barely showing get on dipstick. I reckon this is turbo failure, but would welcome any other diagnostic input, plus what is best route for replacing? Disco still in France, me at home with dog. Thanks in advance. Ps. Hope I have posted correctly.

Hello Matt,


A replacement / exchange turbo is going to cost you about £185 notes. Not difficult to change. A bucket load of plusgas and be gentle with all the bolts.

Hi Matt,

I know of someone who has fitted one of these in the last few days.You do need to do an oil change after a few hundred miles apparently.

Otherwise , you can spend an awful lot of money for one plus gaskets.

A cheaper option , is maybe get a 2nd hand one.

Lots of breakers around.
