Recently my Defender has developed some starting issues not totally sure why..

Ran fine all through winter but now its a bit warmer it doesnt like starting.

Events as follows -

Key in turn - lights on - can hear it trying to turn over but cant quite get there - still turning the key - then nothing.

Sometimes theres a couple seconds delay then it starts

Other times when turning the key all that happens is the dash lights come on shortly dissapear then nothing. All you can hear is the fuel pump going.

Battery? Glow plugs? Starter motor?

Runs fine once started.

Also purged the system and the injector harness has only been on there a couple months.

when you get the silent treatment give the fly lead connector (small wire) on the starter motor a wiggle and see if that sorts it.

When you get the turning over not firing try purging the fuel lines and then injectors and see if that cures it.

It sounds like more than one fault.

Cheers ratty ill have a gander tomorrow. Though seems to be alright now, its all very intermitant

Intermitent faults tend to be electrical in my experience. Often during wet or damp weather.
Should have read "often during wet or damp weather faults disappear as the electrical resistance between earth points or contacts reduces allowing more current to flow. When they dry out the resistance gets much higher leading to bad connections and/or overheating". Sorry for any confusion.
