Hi guys

ive got a td5 def and when it revs over about 2500 it seems to vibrate a lot, not a jumping around kind of vibration, its more of a noise vibration. I took it to a landy specialist who said they have no idea. The only thing i can see it being is either the dual mass flywheel(which i doubt) or the crankshaft damper, is there anyway of checking on vibrations from td5's?

I don't think that there is anway to check the flywheel without actually removing it.
I suppose you could remove the crank sensor and see if it is dirty or has bits of flywheel stuck to it!!!

It might be worth checking other things first.

First thing I would consider is when you get the vibration and dip the clutch is the vibration still evident?

Then I would have a think about what you have replaced or tinkered with recently. Has that caused the problem?

I would also have a good look at your engine and gearbox mountings to see if they are loose, cracked, etc.

Also have a check of the brakes and propshafts.

it was like it when i bought the car, its not a clutch issue its with the engine revs, wether your in neutral or in gear its still sounds like is going to fall apart!

After checking all the mounts and finding they are all in good condition, i had a think to what else it could be, and i decided it was that stupid viscous fan so after removing it and finding it nearly seized solid ive fitted an electric fan which seems to have cured the problem :D
