Hi guys

My TD5 defender has suddenly developed alot of free play on the clutch pedal and the bite is alot lower. I'm convinced the bite gets lower the further the journey but that could be psychological.
There's probably more free play than there is clutch action at the pedal at the moment. Clutch doesn't slip and seems to select gears reasonably OK.

Pre TD5 I would think the clutch fork has punched through, but I doubt that on the TD5?
Clutch fluid perfect level and no sign of leaks. It is fitted with a LOF power for the last 750 miles.

Not sure where to look with this issue, with no leaks and it all untouched seems odd to me.

Any ideas please?

Bit of an update guys.

Replaced the master cylinder and bled through this evening.

And it's still the same. Seriously hoping its not the clutch fork. But are TD5's immune to that fault?

Cheers

This happened to mine and it was the slave cylinder.
Have you removed the slave cylinder to check it? Mine looked fine (no leaks and barely any level drop in the reservoir) from the outside, but it was leaking into the bellhousing, replacing it cured the fault.
