Does anyone know if removing the cat from a TD5 will create any problems with emissions when renewing the MOT?

I see your location is Norway, not sure on how strict the rules are there, here its a grey area as if a cat is fitted originally then it should be present at test but a lot of garages aren't bothered as long as the emissions limits are met.

Thanks again, yes Norway can be quite strict on some things for sure.

Not so sure about the MOT side though as in February this year the Disco went for and passed its test.
150 miles later the main ball joint (steering box to rod) fell off!! Luckily I was just pulling away at the time and managed to reverse back to the kerb. I was not a happy camper as you can imagine and a sound verbal rollocking was delivered to the garage in question.

So after that little experience, I am planning a trip back to Blighty with the old dear next year to get her properly checked over by MM 4x4 or another specialist.

True indeed - my local garage has no problem with a de-cat pipe because it looks factory fitted and not "some cut and shut bit of scaffold tube bodged onto where the cat was". Gotta love the TD5 engine! makes exhaust parts cheaper :D

Diff.
