Hi,

I have a '53 TD5 and the front passenger window will not go down it will go up but only down when the motor was removed & 'reverse wired' does the BCU need resetting? Have tested the wireing. OK into BCU but nothing out for the up mode.

Can any one help,

Do I need to buy a new BCU or can it be repaired?

Check out the wiring diagram for yours if you got one, seem to remember the feed wires take a less than starightforward route to the BCU - child isolator + relay + relay + fuse etc. etc. I'll try have a look later if no1 else has chance in mean time.

Thanks for that info l3on,
No haven't got a wiring diagram
I'm very green:confused:, only had the td5 a couple of months are the relays inside the BCU box? Never had these problems with my old series 3 :D

By buying a new or even s/hand BCU to replace mine, will it have to be reprogramed? and will my key still work?

second hand is not an option as far as im aware, they are chassis number configured so you will have a mismatch causing it not to start and yes it will need to be programmed,
you will need the codes for your keys to have them re programmed,

please let me know if any 1 knows ways round this

Thanx LR Guy,
My garage has a computer, I was hoping, for a S/H option to save a bit of cash. Looks like another £200 bill.

hi the bcu does hold the key memory and the mileage is also stored inside, you can connect to t4 or equivalant computer and just transfer the data from old to new,so you will not need new keys as long as they dont screw it up,cant you cheat and wop the wires from a back window, sod the kids they dont need windows not old enough to smoke yet, and they could always use the ash tray, as if!

doh yes piglet is right (memory lapse) the key data is transfered during download. if all goes well .:)
