Good evening all hope this is the right section i am looking for a wiring diagram for a discovery td5 auto gearbox as we am planning to install a auto box coupled to a td5 engine into a defender. has anyone already done this if so do you have any pointers.

many thanks phil

Hmmm, the modern box is so integrated into the engine management system and extremely complex that In my view too hard. Where as the earlier ZF4HP22 with its basic hydraulic control / kick down cable is simple to understand and would make for an easier task. I once tried to read the manual for the Jaguar XJ6 4.0 with the ZF4HP22Ex box and gave up, so many sensors controlling when it changed gear from engine & gear box oil temp to outside temp and position of the accelerator pedal

You're in for one hell of a job. In the old days you could buy a tranny ECU called Compushift (if I remember correctly). This would run the auto box without the necessary vehicle ECU inputs and control signals. I'm fairly sure you can swap the entire valve block from the non electronic 4HP22 from a Range Rover, but that needs a cable connection to the throttle pedal to give load input into the gearbox. The TD5 has a fly by wire throttle pedal so some engineering will be required.
I suggest that you do plenty more research. It won't be an easy task.
