Hello all. My new (to me) discovery 2 Td5 automatic is very difficult to start when it's been sitting for a few days. I freshly charge the battery overnight, turn the key to on, wait for most of the lights to go off, then turn the key to the start position and it just clunks. I've video'd the process and uploaded it here

Any thoughts on the root cause please? Starter motor, battery, solenoid, somethng else?

Thanks in advance

Have you checked battery connections, are they tight?

Have you checked the battery condition? Why are you charging it every night?

I had a starting issue a while back. Sometimes the starter would turn over, sometimes it wouldn’t. No clicks, no noise, no nothing.

I found the signal cable on the top of the starter totally covered in oil and the spade connector really sloppy.

Cleaned it up, tightened the crimp, been fine ever since.

Hello

Thanks for your reply.
I'm not charging the battery every night, just the night before I need to use the disco as I know I'll be using lots of umpf through the starter circuit!
I'll check that circuit.
