So I’ve had a TD5 90 for about a year and the alternator packed up. Sourced and replaced like for like and everything looked good, well done I thought . . . However 24hrs later and the alternator has pulled out of the cast lower mounts. Before I replace it, I’m questioning if there should be a top support on the alternator? There definitely was not for the last year, but looking at the few photos I can find looks like there should be. Can anyone clarify if all TD5’s do or don’t, and maybe a photo showing where and how it’s fitted? Thanks in advance.

Are you missing No.4 in this diagram?

That’s exactly what I was thinking, how did it last so long without it . . . I can see where item 4 bolts to the alternator, but where does it go on the block? Any chance of a photo anyone?
