I have a few cables I want to take from the engine bay through into the dash to connect up, not done it before so looking for a some advice. Its my only motor and its a long trip to get additional parts so it would be nice to not run into problems once I start and I really dont want to without a motor for days.
Any advice very much appreciated.
Wires are nothing huge, couple of security features (kill switches etc) and maybe a feed from the alternator to an rpm gauge.

I've pushed a few wires through the rubber gaiters that the heater control cables go through - on my Td5, the gaiter's right behind the dash.
I also fitted a kill-switch (to stop the battery going flat when I was re-building it), but mounted it in the passenger foot-well, on the front of the seat-box. The battery has two main positive cables, one goes to the starter and one goes to everything else - my kill-switch just cuts the second one.
One thing I would say, though - if yours is a Td5, it may not have an appropriate alternator connection (W) for a tachometer. Getting a pulse-activated tachometer to work can be a bit of an involved job, but it's do-able.

Same as above. Above the heater box is a plastic grommet screwed to baulkhead. I fed wires through this and came out behind where the radio sits.

Cheers for the info' I shall have a look - with regard the alternator - not got that far yet - but so far nothing ive started has gone smoothly ! So I suspect you are spot on.
Still running in my new Remanufactured TD5 engine - the REV counter was a temperary measure to aid in the running in process. I might look at a diagnostics tool instead as I sure dont want to spend the money required for a genuine landrover gauge. A used one would be handy. I shall take a look at the install thread over the weekend.

Lurk, as above pass wire through existing or newly drilled hole. De-burr the hole and paint to stop future rusting. Pass wires through a correctly sized bulkhead grommet to stop any chance of chafing wires, job done.
