can anyone recommend a good place to get a repacement turbo for my td4? ive been quoted some very different prices! I dont want to fit one and then have to go through the ordeal i suffered:mad2::mad2: having to remove it again!!!!

many thanks in advance!

I got mine from ebay seller "nerings" based in Latvia. Price was good, fast service and it seems to work fine.

reconditioned.
IMO its pointless buying a used turbo as you have no idea how long it will last and since its such a ****ty job to change it, you want to avoid future problems.

Agree! How much did you pay? I've found a company called turbo solutions in the uk offering recon turbo with 2 Years warranty for £333 exchange

finally got my arse in gear and ordered a turbo! better start getting the oil out of the engine has anyone else got any experience of this? is it best to get it out by removing the injectors or the heater plugs?

I've just done this job i did post about having a freelander for sale as parts since the engines dead but it would appear its been removed.

i did it the hard way without taking off the transfer box much easier with 2 of you to get the support bolt and exhaust off rest is reasonably easy if your draining oil from intercooler take of the bumper makes a good step to get over the top of the engine

as for oil out the cylinders injectors are easy to get out just need new seals after suck up any excess oil then turn over with pump and injectors disconnected IT WILL GO EVERYWHERE

Past two years have dropped and refitted four turbos on all just changed the turbo cores, £139 of eBAY

Ok so today I got round to finishing off the fitting of my turbo, Cranked it over several times to prime the turbo, then replaced the injector wires and started the engine, left it idle for about 5 mins all good and feeling quite smug with myself!! then all of a sudden started to run rough. So switched it off straight away I've since tried starting it and it's still running rough. I suspect it may be the problem that caused the turbo to go in the first instance( I've changed the Pcv for the BMW type) any ideas?????? :frusty:  :frusty:

as good as I could! I removed all the pipes and intercooler and washed them out.

Think I have found the issue while the engine was running I removed the wires to each injector in turn, when I removed each one the engine noise changed as each cylinder stopped injecting, until I removed the last when it made no difference! So I assumed that injector was the problem, I left the engine running to make sure everything was hot so that the injector would come out easier, and as I was running it started to run smoother not perfect but a lot better. Took it for a spin it's not quite right but a massive improvement! So I hope that in time it will get back to how it should be! Could this be some sort of damage to the injector following the engine being hydraulic locked after the turbo blew?

Update. Problem has not improved so took it to the nearest independent with autologic computer who informed me I need 2 injectors . Cost me £50 to find that out at least I know! Anyone else regret buying a Freelander??!!!
