Freelander number 2. 2005 model. Wifes daily driver suddenly would not start. From behaving normally to non start with no symptoms in between. A very strange one. I had replaced the low pressure pump a couple of months before so was sure that was not the snag.

But I was overseas so called on my trusted brother to help. (he is the the subject of my third non starting post but that comes later).

With a shot of quick start he got it going and she drove home and parked the car waiting for my return. She had to use my Range Rover for a couple of weeks which nearly broke the bank.

On my return I first did the leak back test. The results were perfect. No leak at all. Fuel pressures were spot on which ruled out the LP pump. So Mr Google guided me to this fine site. Once again.

Removed the regulator on the rear of the engine driven pump and there was the problem. O ring and support ring were finished. R50 later which is less than a fiver I installed new parts from Bosch and she is back to normal with no other problems. Less than an hour to do the job.

Thanks for posting this up! Great to get a bit of advice on a non starter problem and it's cure.

Cheers Sir
