Freelander TD4 2001. 195k
I am not usually up at this end of the forum my spot is usually down by the P38's..However, whilst mine is in a million pieces.. I have an issue with our little Freelander, hope somebody can help. Mrs D's Freelander TD4 has suddenly lost all go in it, like the turbo has up and left. Fine on the straight when wound up, but nothing to pull away with or up hill. This was after we had an overheating issue and changed the rad' (!?!?). But now not as it was and it was always quite pokey. (EGR blanked off.)
Now No smoking, no overheating no leaks. NO obvious air leaks in the intake pipes or whistling. So a bit stumped, could we have a worn out turbo or is she just getting old maybe. Seems strange as it has always been the good old girl in the drive, seeing off 2 Disco's, 1 P38 and 3 other cars we've had and it still starts every time. I know long distance diagnosis isn't a science but any offers of advice..?
Cheers

Have you checked cat and DPF?

1st places I would look.

But you say it over heated first, how bad? For how long? Any symptoms of HGF?

Hello and welcome from me.
Hi to All,
Sorry for not coming back sooner. The overheating wawasn blowing steam or anything like, just running out of coolant a few times, just in time to notice and change the rad. Mrs D decided to tell me now,(this morning..) that there was an engine vibration underload, took it out today and voila.. at high revs, 2-3 k.definitely engine, not wheel balancing or prop bearings. Connection.?
