Hello all
Very impressive website prompted me to register, oh and by the way, I've got a few probs with my TD4!!!

2001 model-drives like a dream but...

1. Oil level dipped to minimum. Added 1 litre of oil. Plumes of blue smoke for miles! When oil level drops-smoke stops??? ( I have recently had the turbo pipes replaced after seeing oil on the bonnet-yes bonnet! and getting it into LR garage asap. I can't afford to keep taking it in there so I'm seeking advice from the fountain of knowledge.

2. I'm experiencing loss of power at about 65-70 mph. Engine just seems to stop revving? No problem at any other speed. Otherwise drives like a dream.

3. Occasionally there's a pool of water in the well where the oil cap is? Complete puzzler as it has a clip on lid?

No other problems of visibles signs of problems and no warning lights at all.

HELP!!!!!

Hi, I'm sure I read a post by tigapiglet, who I believe is a landy technician, and he reckoned the windscreen washer pipes leak at the plastic joints under the bonnet, leaving water all over the area you mention, and can cause injectors to seize in head, not a problem until you need to change them i spose. With regard to oil level, I think the top mark on the dipstick is a little over full for that engine, because mine sucks a bit of oil up into turbo/ intercooler hoses when i fill to this level, but with it 1/8 of an inch or so lower it doesnt seem to deposit oil in the pipes /hoses so much, so i wouldn't worry unless yours is using loads of oil of course. hope this helps. Best Regards.:)

Hi good memory bald eagle yes the water in the oil filler cap is from the plastic joiners under bonnet to the washer jets,i pull off the plastic bits and just connect the rubber pipe straight to the jets better pressure and no leaks,i always check the oil level with engine running so you can see whats on the dip stick as oil will get warm and expand and should be on max mark but some people check cold as well as long as oil is half way got to be good enough, tiga

Thanks you guys. I really appreciate your assistance. Will work on your advice this week. Once again thanks.
