Hi all,
had a few issues with the my 2004 td4 landy. Started playing up and not starting so I did the usual things and changed the fuel pump and filter in the rear wheel arch. Still wouldn't start.
Did a DIY leak off test to find 1 injector down and another leaking off a little too much. Replaced the 2 injectors but still had the same problem.
Thelandy would start when towed and would drive fine from then on, but wouldn't start on the key. It would rev right over without missing or going into limp mode so I took it to my local 4x4 place in Swansea. They diagnosed a faulty high pressure pump on the block.
So, after picking up a recon pump from Euro and a pump gear reataining tool from ebay I changed the main pump and hey presto, it now starts fine.
But.......
When it's cold it starts and drives fine,no problems, but as soon as the temp gets to half it's normal running temp on the gauge, it won't rev past 2600rpm, goes into limp mode with the 'MIL' light on. Power cuts off and the engine/exhaust notes gets louder. If I turn the ignition off/on it'll reset itself and power comes back. But again I can't go past 2600rpm.
First off I thought pressure reg on the pump as it wasn't doing this with the old pump/reg but to no avail. I've cleaned all the electrical connectors to the sensors, I've also been under the car and made sure the turbo actuator/variable vane lever is free, and the hoses aren't leaking or split.
I've had the car plugged into a Draper Expert code reader but there are no codes popping up.
Any suggestions? Temp sender? Dodgy recon pump? I'm at a total loss at the mo.
Is there a way of dis-connecting the fuel rail pressure sensor and bypassing it?
